EXPIRED
Individualizing Osteoporosis Therapy in Postmenopausal Women: A Case-Based Approach.

Overview

Increased understanding of the impact of various risk factors on future osteo-porotic fracture risk and the role of BMD testing has created a gap in what research is beginning to show and what is understood in the community. Furthermore, no treatment strategy is best for all patients. In addition to appropriate risk stratification, a thorough understanding of the available management strategies is necessary to optimize and individualize osteoporosis therapy in postmenopausal women. OB/GYNs care for a large portion of these women at risk, and education is needed to close this educational gap and improve patient outcomes.

This CME program will apprise OB/GYNs of recent advances in the understanding of absolute fracture risk and the management of postmenopausal women at varying risk for osteoporotic fracture. Physician participants will benefit from a higher level of competency, in both fracture risk assessment and available management strategies, and will be able to individualize osteoporosis therapy in both primary and secondary prevention.
